Join the exclusive Building Bridges Pre-Program Widening Participation in Horizon Europe: Sharing Best Practices on September 11th, from 3 until 5 pm at the Festspielhaus Hellerau in Dresden to explore how the EU’s Widening measures are performing in 2025 — and what still needs to be done.
Back in January 2024, the interim evaluation of Horizon Europe’s Widening Participation program revealed both progress and persistent disparities. While countries like Greece and Portugal have emerged as strong performers, the overall gap in research capacity, competitiveness, and grant success between Widening and non-Widening countries remains.
One year later, we ask:
- Are expectations being met more effectively now than in 2024?
- What are the real, on-the-ground benefits for research institutions?
- How can the program evolve to empower excellence rather than just support participation?
We’ll discuss these questions with experienced research managers and scientists from several Widening Countries — particularly from Eastern Europe and the Baltics — to reflect on lessons learned over the past decade, from funding success to national support, international cooperation, and the road ahead.
The following keynote speakers will share their expertise on Widening:
- Anna Vosečková | NCP_WIDERA.NET
- Emilie Trakalova | Česká zemědělská univerzita v Praze
- Christopher Marrs | TU Dresden
