Negotiations between Japan and the European Union regarding Japan’s association with Horizon Europe (2021–2027) have been successfully concluded.
From the 2026 work programme onwards, institutions based in Japan can participate in Horizon Europe projects as beneficiaries. The association is limited to Pillar II of Horizon Europe (“Global Challenges & European Industrial Competitiveness”).
Japan is also seeking to participate in other EU programs.
